08-08-2024 (Lions Gate)

Last year I began a new painting that was originally thought to become a monochrome white painting. During the process of making I had a feeling that I wasn’t really making a white monochrome but that something else was to happen later but I just didn’t know what it might be at that time. Once the painting was “finished” with the initial completion I did what I always do. Took photos and a video and put it back on the wall until I began the next large painting. It turned out that next painting also wasn't finished as I had also thought. But I had yet to realize these things. Fast forward to a few months ago (around June) I began noticing the original black and gold painting seemed lacking and so I began the process of learning what it needed and I gave it to it and knew once it was completed with the violet added to the black paint, that I knew then that the white painting that had been the previous painting needed more. So as you can tell by the images there is a new layer of wrapping of thick rope and also painted not only the backside but also the front which gave even more dimension to the painting by allowing the previous painting to continue, along with a new set of levels behind and in front with many wonderful vibrant colors.

Enjoy the pics.

Painting Documentation Videos

Spent the day moving paintings around so I could get documentation of the three paintings I didn't know I didn't have any video of. Thanks to my Mother for letting me use her Phone that has a better camera than mine does.

Have a blessed day!

Acrylic on Acrylic Yarn on Painted wood Chassis.
Freestanding

2S is for Two Sided as you can clearly see. I have been thinking about this in the recent work on my Testers. As of right now there are two of these. The other shall be online soon.

The first painting of my TESTERS series where I decided to try different colors on each side. I was so pleasantly surprised when I looked at the painting in progress, I knew I had something going that was spectacular and filled with so much visual information to make a full viewing.

This particular painting was a wonderful enjoyment to create. The uses of the interior yellow and red make the foreground stick out even more to the eye. The details are exquisite.

This is the mixing palette I used for this painting. I needed to find the right blue to go with the Pthalo that is used for the chassis. Along with the right mixture of mediums to make the textural paint the correct thickness. In mixing textural paint, I move very slowly as you have to allow time for the paint to dry since wet paint has its own dynamics. The area of the top, which kinda looks like an abstract head, is the most recent mixing. I test my paint not on my walls, I test my paint on the paint buckets I use, makes the paint easy to use and get rid of when no longer needed. So what you are seeing here is the paint taken off the bucket and placed on a white background so you pay more attention to it than the bucket.

Have a blessed week!

I have a special desire for making white paintings. After many years making white paintings, I find white to be the most powerful color as it allows one to see every detail better than any other color. I'm not making a declaration on anyone else's work, I am simply writing about my own.

Pigment by: KP Pigments Bora Bora Blue

A few months before this painting was created, I had been watching the DipYourCar Channel on YouTube that shows some amazing pigments that you don't see in painting. I got in touch with KP Pigments which supplies much of their car pigments, and they hooked me up with some sweet pigments that shall be on future paintings but this is the first one. I also used the ground glass on the backing paint I got from Paint Huffer, they make a ground glass that I got myself before and really enjoy seeing the light catch the tiny granules in the painting as you view it from all directions.

These images are pretty large so you can click on them and really take in the details.

12-07-2023 Video

I spent last night going over this video time and time again. I kept thinking of making it shorter, but everytime I looked into it, I simply couldn't, as I kept loving looking at this marvelous painting. Hopefully you too.

Have a blessed day!

2023 has been one heck of a year for me. So much personal growth and growing through my paintings. The culmination of it all came about at the end of the year with this tremendous painting that really is photogenic. The painting is on a 1.5" thick wood and the nylon rope make the entire painting stick out about 3 Inches from the wall. As you can see in the photos, the nylon is very thick and as it lays upon another string it gets quite interesting to say the least. I've never been involved with a painting that was this thick, so to see it as it grew was spectacular and I enjoyed every moment. To watch the painting as it developed with each stroke is a whole new experience for me. It's one heck of a powerful painting.
