Marc Ross + Jeffrey Collins

My exhibition in Columbus Ohio is available until January 28th. This exhibition is shared between Marc Ross, whom is in the front space and myself, whom is in the 2nd space. We each were able to make our own specific place in Marcia's gallery and I think it's quite a dramatic and wonderful experience.

My first exhibition in NY. At the legendary yearly group exhibition held at Sideshow Gallery. 319 Bedford Ave. Over 500 artists works in this years exhibition.

For my first post of the new year. Even though in my mind, the year really ends on the 21st when the solstice is. Today I was just remembered of a great artist who passed away on this day in 2005. Steven Parrino. I was told a bunch about him though one of his friends, Daniel Levine. He spoke very well of the man, and it makes me wish I had been able to get to know him too.

Here is a quote that Sharon Butler took from one of his writings.

Selling a few paintings for a trip.

Just wanted to send a note to all my friends. I am trying to raise money for a trip to NY to be able to participate in my first NY group show at Sideshow Gallery. The exhibition opens on the 5th of January and I really need to be there. I decided to sell a few of my 'soft paintings' on unstretched canvas on ebay as a way to raise funds for the journey.

Three new 'Flat Paintings'

For quite some time now. I have been making what I call 'swatch paintings'. These are small versions of the larger paintings just on unstretched canvas that I have fully painted. This past week I decided to step it up a notch or three and cut me up three rectangles of canvas. Each one roughly 16" X 10", so it makes it more like an actual stretched canvas painting. I was originally thinking I could just nail them into the wall at the corners, but then I put them on some foam board and found that I liked the idea. I am now waiting till I return from my NY trip where I will have the three paintings framed with nice wooden frames and put under acrylic glass. Click on the images for larger viewing.

Painters Journal archives.

Unfortunately this feature on www.artnet.com didn't last more than 2 years. It's understandable as the people who wrote it got very busy. But these were some great writings on Painting in NYC from 99 to 2K. Written by painters Michael Brennan and John Zinsser who are both in my art documentary. I'm working on getting a special interview done where they are both interviewing each other. Should make for one hell of a special.

I was just looking around the net for something to show a friend who was going on a bit about the gallery world.
